My spiritual path started in the temples and homes of my childhood, surrounded by chanting, incense, and quiet wisdom.
I grew up Buddhist, which is its own kind of experience. Our apartment had an entire room devoted to practice, filled with Buddha statues, monk images, candles, and the ever-present scent of incense. It was the heart of our home.
My parents also opened their doors to their wider community, hosting a weekly meditation group that became a gathering place for Thai people seeking connection, practice, and belonging far from home. Our family didn't just participate in Thai Buddhist culture. We helped hold space for it.
A Community Built on Faith
My father was the kind of man who believed that great teachers should be accessible to everyone. He personally arranged for revered monks from Thailand to travel and teach in the United States, opening our home to them and ensuring they were welcomed and cared for.
A Lineage That Connected Everything
Among the monks I have had the privilege of meeting and practicing with is the venerable หลวงพ่อพระราชพรหมยาน, Luang Phor Phrarachaphromayan of Wat Thasung, one of Thailand's most beloved and spiritually accomplished monks.
He is also the primary teacher of Ajarn Promayarn Rattanayarnpimoke, the creator and founding master of the Promayarn card system. The title Ajarn means "revered teacher" in Thai. That shared lineage would become the invisible thread connecting me to Ajarn Promayarn long before I ever knew his name.

My introduction to Ajarn Promayarn began simply: I sought him out for guidance. The moment we met, I felt an immediate and unmistakable connection. When I learned that we shared the same monk teacher, that connection made complete sense.
In 2022, my father and I traveled to Thailand and met Ajarn Promayarn in person. At the end of that visit, he gifted me a deck of Promayarn cards and his book, a gesture I did not take lightly.
In 2023, Ajarn came to the United States to teach his very first course here, and I was there. I studied under him directly and received my certificate of practice.
About the Name Promayarn
You may have noticed that my last name is the same as the card system itself. That is not a coincidence, and it is not a stage name.
Promayarn is a name that is earned. Students who complete Ajarn Promayarn Rattanayarnpimoke's official course and hold a valid certificate of practice are honored to carry Promayarn as their own name — a mark of genuine lineage, rigorous training, and deep respect for the tradition.
